San Diego’s favorite red varietal by its consumption and planting acreage, Syrah is a regular favorite wine at Bernardo Winery. This Syrah is grown in a wonderful area of San Diego just north of Valley Center in the Pauma Valley. Surrounded by orange trees and sporting an old-school pruning haircut, this vineyard produces some of the juiciest and most mature fruit around. We tend to let our reds hang a little longer on the vine so the sugars don’t mature faster than the phenolics, and as you will be able to tell in the richness of flavors in this wine, it’s a good call for Syrah. Fresh dark fruit abounds on the nose and palette.
Tasting notes: blackberry, blueberry, white pepper spice, and toasted oak & vanilla.
