2023 Chardonnay - Bernardo Winery

Chardonnay is the largest cultivar grown in California, and embodies San Diego, and in our opinion, grows well for our specific style: stainless steel fermentation. We got quality chardonnay grapes from the growers at Emerald Creek, which were then whole cluster pressed into tank, settled, racked, and inoculated. A simple process that has derived fantastic tropical fruit notes with a wonderfully soft, yet crisp mouthfeel. Our go-to yeast for Chardonnays has been a strain selected from vineyards in Portugal, where they were getting excellent results in the citrus, tropical and white fruit note development. 

For someone who isn’t a Chardonnay fan in general, we encourage you to try this wine, as it’s a wine that really reflects our classy San Diego paradise and won’t remind you of your grandmother’s bottom-shelf Chardonnay.
