McCormick Ranch is one of the oldest vineyards in San Diego County, run by the very kind and hardworking Don Armstrong. Ross met him with his father a long time ago and since then, he has been one of the most consistent grape growers the region has. Merlot and Carignane are grown on his property alongside citrus for miles. He prefers Moscato to drink and we prefer to make great reds from his grapes. This Merlot was easy, fruity, and fulfilling. A delicious example of the methyl pyrazine ‘green pepper’ characteristic of this Bordeaux varietal and how it is so pervasive in healthy plants.
Tasting Notes: black cherry, granite, anise, vanilla, green pepper.
